August 21 Declared as Special Non-Working Holiday - Ninoy Aquino

Philippines will celebrate the 31st death anniversary of Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. this August 21, 2014. Government declared August 21 as a special non-working holiday in accordance with Republic Act (RA) 9265, signed by Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Senator Ninoy Aquino  was one of the great and brave senator in his time. For many Filipinos, they said that during that time Filipino people lost a hero, a hero for a change.

Sen. Ninoy Aquino was assassinated at the Manila International Airport in 1983 upon returning from his self-imposed exile in the United States. His death caused a civil uprisings in Metro Manila which led to the first bloodless revolution in Asia, the People’s Power Revolution and catapulted his widow, Corazon Aquino, into the political limelight and won the presidential election in 1986 ending the Martial Law Regime.
