Department of Tourism revealed its new Ads - More Fun in Philippines

All the world loves a lover, but apparently lovers are loving the Philippines more and more, the Tourism chief said.

Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez said in an interview in ANC's Headstart that the Philippines is fast becoming a favorite destination for lovers.

"Aside from all the laughter, the humor, the food, romance is very much a part of our offer," Jimenez said.

Pinoys' romantic side, he added, is "very appealing to a lot of foreigners" such as the Japanese, Koreans and Europeans.

"A large part of the Korean market, for example, has a very romantic bent. They arrive as couple(s)," Jimenez said.

While most of the couples come for short vacations, others go to the Philippines with marriage proposal or even wedding plans.

"Boracay for example is a major destination for weddings," Jimenez said.

"It started with Filipinos getting married there; now you have foreigners getting married in the Philippines," he added.

As Valentine's Day nears, the Tourism department has launched a new video campaign highlighting the Philippines as a "romantic destination."

The video shows a man proposing to his partner with the big question with the help of Pinoy boatmen.

Riding on the government's successful tourism campaign, the video ends with the slogan "Popping the question, more fun in the Philippines."

The 16-second ad featured a real couple, Jimenez said, to make the video more appealing.

"They're visiting [the Philippines] and they just love it here," he added.
