East Asian leaders watch dancing inmates perform live

 


Mayor James Chan Khay Syn, Kuching South City of Sarawak, Malaysia looked at the inmates as his brothers and sisters. “I think we all love you,” he added.




Heads of the East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum (EATOF) delegation troop to the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) Wednesday to witness live the performance of YouTube sensation Cebu dancing inmates.

The East Asian leaders were joined by Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale at the CPDRC few hours after the opening ceremony of the biggest tourism event in Cebu this year.
Once again, the dancing inmates showcased their Michael “MJ” Jackson YouTube hit “They don’t really care about us”. This was part of MJ’s movie tribute “This is It”. MJ’s personal choreographer Travis Payne came to Cebu to choreograph the inmates.
They also performed another MJ song, “Ben/Billy Jean medley,”“Feeling Hot Hot Hot,” and the Finale music “Mabuhi.”
Tazbir, chairman of Yogyakarta Tourism Authority, Indonesia called it the best experience that he will have in Cebu. “I will bring this experience to my country,” he said.
Vice Chairman Vu Thi Thu Thuy of Quang Ninh, Vietnam said she was very happy for them.
Datuk Haji Talib Zulpilip, assistant minister of tourism and heritage Sarawak, Malaysia was also impressed with the inmates and wished them the “best in life.”
The visitors then went to the CPDRC grounds for a rare photo opportunity with the dancing inmates.
The group also visited provincial history keeper, Museo Sugbo, which formerly served as the provincial jail of Cebu. (XSA)
